Our groom Mark is better known to me as Dimey. We hung out together at tech a lot of years ago, along with Archie, Baxter and many other guests on the day of his wedding. We all did Media Studies together - brilliant days of finding our identity after a time of conformity in high school. Zombie films were made & parties were had; not to be mentioned here - although David Baxter did run through a few examples from his youth with Mark during his Best Man speech and got a lot of laughs doing so!
The fact that Mark looked me up to shoot his wedding from his adopted home of Norway made it all the more special for me.
Mark brought his bride Irja and her family to Northern Ireland for the wedding. The atmosphere of the day was fantastic, with the Crawfordsburn Mill in Bangor hosting the two sets of family and friends who had the best of craic together.
Throw into the mix a humanist ceremony, traditional Norwegian outfits, my old friends being as awesome as ever, plenty of Scandinavian Metal Head types and a bubblegun shootout between the seriously cool Flower Girl and Page Boy... and all of the guests for that matter... and you have one seriously fun wedding.
The story of Liedania and Richard's big day began at their family home. The morning featured our bride and her two sisters having a laugh with each other as they got ready. The anticipation for the day ahead was palpable. A highlight of the morning came with the arrival of Liedania's daughter at the house; I loved capturing the expression on Liedania's face as she greeted her for the first time on the day.
St. Patrick's Church, Banbridge, proved a stunning location for the ceremony - this church always delivers; commanding architecture, loads of space inside and a nice quality of light - I love shooting here!
The couple's reception at Darver Castle, Dundalk, was another inspired choice; a great place for the wedding party to celebrate with the newlyweds.
The day had a great energy with lots of kids in the family running around, having fun as children do! Richard showed off his sense of humour with some creative posing during the cutting of the cake. Liedania was completely game for the sword pose - watch yourself there Richard ;-) Oh, and the main man's speech at dinner was hilarious.
The last word on the day has to go to Liedania, who looked absolutely stunning in her Eliza Jane Howell dress.
